Research Overview

TB-500 is a synthetic analogue of the actin-binding domain fragment of Thymosin Beta-4 (Tβ4), a highly conserved 43-amino acid protein found at high concentrations in platelets and blood cells. The specific sequence of TB-500 corresponds to the region of Tβ4 responsible for its G-actin sequestration activity, which modulates cytoskeletal dynamics in cell migration, wound healing, and angiogenesis research.

In vitro studies with TB-500 have examined its effects on actin polymerization equilibria, metalloproteinase secretion, cell motility assays, and endothelial tube formation. It has been used as a tool to dissect actin-dependent signaling pathways in wound healing models and to compare the activity of the full-length Tβ4 protein against the shorter functional fragment.

Animal model research has investigated TB-500 in muscle injury, tendon repair, and cardiac tissue models. It is frequently studied in combination with BPC-157, as the two peptides have distinct but potentially complementary mechanisms involving nitric oxide signaling and cytoskeletal reorganization respectively.

All referenced studies are preclinical or in vitro. Not for human use.
